Katkoot Amarone Riserva 2005 DOC is a rare, unique gem born from the exceptional 2005 vintage. Crafted with grapes hand-harvested in Negrar, without the use of mechanical machines, and dried on wooden plateaus, this Amarone undergoes a 20-year aging process in Slavonian oak barrels, resulting in a wine of unparalleled quality and distinction. Born from one of the last 2005 barriques remaining in the Valpolicella area, this wine boasts aromas of ripe red fruits, exotic spices, and a velvety palate. This limited-production reserve embodies the essence of Valpolicella terroir, with the addition of the old Oseleta grape lending a unique character.
WINEMAKING PROCESS:
Hand-harvested grapes from the 2005 vintage undergo a four-month drying process in wooden houses, all in a natural environment. The grapes are laid on wooden plateaus before soft pressing and aging in Slavonian barrels for 20 years. Bottled in November 2023, only 1000 reserve bottles were produced, divided into two collections of 500. This wine can be conserved for a lifetime.
