Katkoot landed in Thailand through a series of curated events and gatherings, bringing together the Bangkok community around Badwater and Saole.

From tastings to intimate dinners, the introduction unfolded across the city, connecting Katkoot with the local creative and hospitality scene. Wine became a shared language, moving naturally between spaces, people, and moments, in tune with Bangkok's energy and the Katkoot community.

A Conversation in Bangkok

Before all of this became visible to others, how did this start between you? When did it shift from just being friends to building something together?

Wannasiri:
It started naturally, with mutual respect for each other’s work and a genuine friendship. Over the past months, it became clear that we shared similar values, tastes, and long-term goals. We realized our strengths complemented one another, and that we could build something more meaningful than just a supplier–distributor relationship.

You all come from different backgrounds, yet what you’ve created feels very coherent. How did your personal stories influence the way this came together?

Eve:
While our backgrounds are quite different, they’re connected by a shared passion for craft, process, and people. Coming from fashion, brand building, and the kitchen, we each approach wine through a different lens. Design brings sensitivity to identity and storytelling; F&B creativity brings an understanding of experience and community; and the chef’s perspective keeps everything grounded in seasonality, balance, and the reality of how wine is enjoyed at the table.

When Katkoot entered this circle, it felt very natural from the start. What was the first thing you recognised that made it feel different from what was already on the market?

Wannasiri & Hanief:
We have to admit that our first impression was the bottle design and the quality of the materials—you can tell just from the images. Then, when we tasted the wines, everything made sense. It felt right. We knew it was a high-quality product, and honestly, we were quite surprised. Coming from the fashion world, you often see things that look good but don’t feel as good as they look. That’s when we knew we shared the same beliefs.

Bangkok has a very specific rhythm. How much does the city shape the way you think, create, and bring people together?

Hanief:
Bangkok’s rhythm plays a significant role in how we think and operate. It’s a city of contrasts—fast-moving yet deeply rooted in tradition. The pace keeps us responsive and open-minded, while the culture encourages hospitality, connection, and shared experiences around the table. This environment influences how we bring people together: less formally, more intuitively, and always with an emphasis on community.

With everything moving so fast, how do you think this can remain authentic over time?

Wannasiri:
Authenticity comes from staying true to the values that first drew us to Katkoot: quality, thoughtful design, and the experience it creates. In a city that moves as fast as Bangkok, it’s about slowing down—observing and absorbing. Katkoot doesn’t chase trends; it becomes part of the culture itself. Over time, authenticity is preserved not by trying to stand out, but by quietly remaining.

Beyond wine, how do you see Katkoot fitting into the community and the moments you’re creating here in Bangkok? How do you see it evolving?

Eve:
Bringing Katkoot here feels like adding another layer to Bangkok’s community. It invites people to pause, connect, and experience something together. I see it first growing naturally within our art and design circles, and slowly becoming part of the city’s conversations.
